Christmas Shadow

“And when they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. But Jesus was saying, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’
“And they cast lots dividing up His garments among themselves. And the people stood by looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him saying, ‘He saved others let Him save Himself if this is the Christ of God, His Chosen One.’
“And the soldiers also mocked Him, coming up to Him offering Him sour wine, and saying, ‘If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself!’” Luke 23:33-37
Yes, it is Christmas DAY! The key message of Christmas often gets overshadowed by all the festivities. However, it is clear, Christ did not come to die for us so we could have a great meal today, catch up with friends, enjoy decorated trees or get presents.
Today is a time to remember that it is about the cross. You see, Christ had a choice to forgo the cross…I suspect we all would, if we had the power to avoid it.
Yet, the mighty Lord of the universe -- who was with the Father when He flung the stars into the sky and laid the foundation of the earth -- chose to humble Himself and submit to God’s plan. Not for His glory but for our only hope for eternity.
Take care with love, especially His, from Darlene, who still prays for you each day.
