The Equaliser and Two Promises

“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them.

“And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.

“And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, everyone of them according to their deeds.

“Then death and Hades were throne into the lake of fire.  This is the second death, the lake of fire.  And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was throne into the lake of fire.”  Revelation 20:11-15

As I was writing out the verses above, I noticed something new -- an equaliser and a promise with a condition.  The promise and condition =

·      those whose names are written in the book of life will be judged by what is written in it

·      however, when death and Hades give up their dead they will be judged by their deeds.

Many believe because their good deeds outweigh their bad deeds that they will be judged by that balance.  The Truth is ONLY those who have abandoned their reliance on their deeds and rely solely on the saving power of Jesus Christ, have their names written in the book of life…and there are no other deeds to do.

There is only one answer to the sin problem of mankind,
because the difference between a good man
and a bad man is …only relative!
(Acts 4:12)
