Eating Your Mistakes
“It came about as soon as Moses came near the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing; and Moses’ anger burned, and he threw the tablets from his hands and shattered them at the foot of the mountain.
“He took the calf which they had made and burned it with fire, and ground it to powder and scattered it over the surface of the water and made the sons of Israel drink.
“Then Moses said to Aaron, ‘What did this people do to you, that you have brought such great sin upon them?’ Aaron said, ‘Do not let the anger of my lord burn; you know the people yourself, that they are prone to evil.’” Exodus 32:19-22
This story of Moses going up into a high mountain to meet God (who, of course, knew what was going on down below) should not surprise us. While God continued to share His -- simple and common sense -- Ten Commandments with Moses, the patience of the people had ended.
Can you imagine for a moment how Moses must have felt walking down the mountain, carefully carrying those precious stone tablets? He never imagined the contrast of God’s stark holiness with the lure of sin!
Yet, we all have gone astray. We all need a Saviour. God is so holy and we are so stained with our willful sin, that even after we accept the gracious gift of Jesus’ sacrifice, we must still stand behind the Lord Jesus Christ to face God.
Once we are saved/ justified, like pure gold, God refines and continues to sanctify us throughout our lifetimes to gain the fullest value for us for His kingdom.

NOTE: I choose to believe the Bible because it's a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They reported supernatural events that took place before, of specific prophecies; and claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.
