Vegetables or Beef?

“All the days of the afflicted are bad, but a cheerful heart has a continual feast.

“Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasure and turmoil with it.

“Better is a dish of vegetables where love is, than a fattened ox and hatred with it.

“A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but the slow to anger pacifies contention.

“The way of the sluggard is a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.”  Proverbs 15:15-19

It is not easy to walk a straight and upright path in our lives (15:19), but the alternatives are:

·       hatred (15:17)

·       disputes (15:18) and

·       laziness (15:19).

These three are so common we often find it easy to make excuses for them.  However, they lead to a multitude of other problems.  Let your life be like a smooth and level road built on the steadfast foundation of God’s love for you.

This is the love He had for you from the beginning (Psalm 139) – the same love that brought Him to earth where He lived a life filled with the same temptations we face, yet did not falter.  Because of His choices, He is the only one able to satisfy God’s mandated requirement (of a pure and sin-free sacrifice) to pay for our contrary choices.

Take care with love, especially His, from Darlene, who still prays for you each day.
