Raven’s Bread

“Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, ‘As the Lord, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, surely there shall be neither dew nor rain these years except by my word.’

“And the word of the Lord came to him, saying, ‘Go away from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.  And it shall be that you shall drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there.’

“So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.  And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook.” 1 Kings 17:1-6

Our lives are filled with highs and lows.  In our low times it is tempting to wonder if God is paying attention!  I mean, when you think about it, we are outstandingly insignificant in comparison with running the universe!

But to our Heavenly Father, we are precious in His sight, loved even during our worst moments and when ‘all hope seems lost’ He is carefully managing every detail for our good and His glory…and THAT is the every day miracle of His love, forgiveness and provision!

Take care with love, especially His, from Darlene, who still prays for you each day.
