Staples for Exhaustion
“David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom crossed the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him. And Absalom set Amasa over the army in place of Joab. Now Amasa was the son of a man whose name was Ithra the Israelite, who went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister of Zeruiah, Joab’s mother. And Israel and Absolom camped in the land of Gilead.
“Now when David had come to Mahanaim, Shobi the son of Nahash from Rabbah of the sons of Ammon, Machir the son of Ammiel from Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim,
“ …brought beds, basins, pottery, wheat, barley, flour, parched grain, beans, lentils, parched seeds, honey, curds, sheep, and cheese of the herd, for David and for the people who were with him to eat; for they said, ‘The people are hungry and weary and thirsty in the wilderness.’” II Samuel 17:24-29
David and his men were being pursued by Absalom (David’s beloved son) and an army he had amassed to seize the throne from his father. Just knowing this would have added to his physical exhaustion.
Three men, Shobi, Machir and Barzillai, understood how taxing this was for the king and his men and took action to supply them with physical sustenance, while God supported David in his heart.
There are times when we all feel alone as we fight our battles, but nothing could be further from the truth. Friends will appear when you need them most to meet practical needs and comfort and the Lord walks beside you moment-by-moment.
Take care with love, especially His, from Darlene, who still prays for you each day.

NOTE: I choose to believe the Bible because it's a reliable collection of historical documents written down by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses. They reported supernatural events that took place before, of specific prophecies; and claim that their writings are divine rather than human in origin.
